The Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN) has congratulated John Shallop on his appointment as a Board Member of the National Tourist Board of Sierra Leone.
Shallop’s appointment was made by President Julius Maada Bio, placing him on the board responsible for contributing to the development and promotion of Sierra Leone’s tourism sector.
In a congratulatory message signed by FTAN President, Alhaji Badaki Aliyu, PhD, the Nigerian tourism body described Shallop’s appointment as recognition of his contributions to Sierra Leone’s hospitality and tourism industry.
FTAN noted that Shallop, who serves as President of the Sierra Leone Association of Hotels, has consistently advocated for capacity building, stronger private-sector participation and greater collaboration among tourism stakeholders.
“Your appointment is a well-deserved recognition of your contributions to the hospitality and tourism sector, your commitment to capacity building, and your advocacy for greater private-sector participation and collaboration,” the statement said.
The federation expressed confidence that Shallop’s experience would bring valuable perspectives to the National Tourist Board and contribute to efforts to further develop Sierra Leone’s tourism industry.
“We are confident that your wealth of experience will bring valuable perspectives to the Board and contribute to the further development of tourism in Sierra Leone,” FTAN added.
The Nigerian tourism body wished Shallop success in his new role and expressed optimism that his appointment would create opportunities for deeper collaboration between tourism stakeholders in Nigeria and Sierra Leone.
The congratulatory message further highlights the growing regional interest in strengthening partnerships within West Africa’s tourism and hospitality sector.
