The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has intensified its investigation into the controversial deaths of Abdulrahman “Omega” Sesay and Mary Sia Bangura by inviting a senior official of the opposition All People’s Congress (APC) to assist with inquiries.
Abubakarr “DJ Boxx” Conteh, who serves as the APC’s National Organising Secretary, was requested to report to investigators as authorities continue efforts to piece together events leading up to the deaths that have generated widespread public discussion and political interest.
According to police sources, Conteh’s invitation is connected to information investigators are seeking regarding a social event allegedly attended by the deceased shortly before they died. Officials familiar with the matter emphasized that the APC official has not been accused of any wrongdoing and that his engagement with investigators forms part of standard investigative procedures aimed at gathering relevant information.
The deaths of Omega Sesay and Mary Sia Bangura have remained a subject of intense scrutiny, with numerous questions emerging over the circumstances surrounding the incident. As public interest grows, investigators are reportedly examining multiple leads and interviewing individuals believed to possess information that could assist in establishing a clearer timeline of events.
Family members of Conteh have meanwhile expressed concern about his health condition, stating that he has been unwell during the period of the ongoing investigation.
The deaths have attracted national attention, particularly because of the prominence of some of the individuals linked to the case and the varying accounts that have circulated since news of the tragedy emerged. Public debate has been fueled further by speculation across social media platforms, where different theories regarding the cause of death have been widely shared.
Among the claims circulated online were suggestions that alcohol consumption or drug-related circumstances may have played a role in the deaths. However, relatives of Abdulrahman Sesay have strongly challenged those assertions, insisting that such claims are unsupported and should not be treated as established facts.
The family maintains that preliminary findings from a post-mortem examination allegedly conducted in Freetown point to possible criminal involvement. According to relatives, the examination reportedly revealed indications consistent with food poisoning as well as injuries they believe suggest the deceased may have suffered strangulation and a broken neck. These assertions have not been officially confirmed by law enforcement authorities or other independent bodies.
Abdulrahman Sesay, popularly known as “Omega,” was a well-known political figure within the APC, particularly in Port Loko District. He previously served as the party’s District Public Relations Officer and had earned recognition among supporters as a potential contender for the position of District Council Chairman.
As investigations continue, members of the Sesay family have appealed for restraint, urging citizens, political supporters, and media organizations to avoid spreading unverified information that could undermine ongoing efforts to establish the truth. Police investigators have reiterated that the inquiry remains active and have assured the public that all relevant leads are being pursued. Authorities have called for patience, stressing that conclusions regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths will only be made once investigations have been completed and all available evidence has been thoroughly
