President Julius Maada Bio has announced a major round of appointments affecting key government institutions, including the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, and the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT).
The appointments, announced by the Office of the President on 21 July 2026, represent a significant restructuring of senior leadership across sectors central to the government’s economic, agricultural and social protection agenda.
According to the official public notice, the appointments are subject to parliamentary approval where applicable.
Ms. Isata Marah has been nominated as Deputy Minister of Finance I, placing her in a key position within the ministry responsible for managing the country’s public finances, revenue mobilisation and economic policy coordination.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will also see changes at the deputy ministerial level, with Dr. Isata Kamanda appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security I, while Ing. Bryan Smart-Kanu has been appointed Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security II.
The appointments come at a time when the government continues to place strong emphasis on food production, agricultural transformation and the reduction of Sierra Leone’s dependence on imported food.
The President has also made sweeping changes at NASSIT, one of the country’s most important social security institutions.
Mr. Ahmid C. Jalloh has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Conservation Trust Fund, while Ms. Jenneh Jabati has been appointed Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of NASSIT.
Mr. Chernor Mamoud Jalloh has been appointed Director-General of NASSIT, with Mr. Mohamed Bangura taking up the position of Deputy Director-General for Administration and Finance.
The appointments place a new leadership team at the helm of NASSIT, an institution responsible for managing social security contributions and providing social protection benefits to eligible workers and beneficiaries.
The latest changes highlight President Bio’s continued authority to reshape the leadership of key government institutions as his administration pursues its national development priorities.
With new officials now being positioned across finance, agriculture and social security, the appointments are expected to attract significant public attention, particularly regarding the performance expectations attached to the new roles.
