The Dr Vincent L. Kanu Scholarship Trust Fund has awarded scholarships to 24 school pupils in Makarie Chiefdom, continuing its support for education and young people in the community.
The scholarship presentation, held on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, at Saint Vincent Community Secondary School in Makarie, marked the sixth edition of the annual scholarship programme.
Each beneficiary received Le1,800, bringing the total value of the scholarships to Le43,200.
Delivering the keynote address, PC Makarie N’Kolo II praised the legacy of the late Dr Vincent L. Kanu, describing him as a son of the soil whose contribution to education continues to create opportunities for young people in the chiefdom.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to take their education seriously, remain focused on their studies and strive for strong academic performance.
The Paramount Chief also called on parents and guardians to play an active role in their children’s education, urging them to provide the necessary guidance, supervision and sacrifices to support their academic development.
The scholarship beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Dr Vincent L. Kanu Scholarship Trust Fund for its continued investment in their education.
They pledged to make the best use of the opportunity by studying hard, performing well in their examinations and making their parents, community and the scholarship fund proud.
The latest awards mark another milestone in the Trust Fund’s efforts to honour Dr Vincent L. Kanu’s legacy by supporting education and helping young people in Makarie pursue their academic ambitions.
