The Chairman of the Karene District Council, Mr. Abdul Kandeh Turay, on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, visited the Manoo School of Hope Community Primary School in Kadaimba Village, Sella Limba Chiefdom, to assess the damage caused by a recent heavy windstorm that devastated the school.
The storm completely unroofed and partially collapsed the building, leaving pupils without classrooms and disrupting learning across the community.
Chairman Turay was accompanied by the Environmental Officer of Karene District Council, the District Coordinator for Free Quality School Education (FQSE), Mr. John Bangura (John Bio), and the School Manager of the affected institution.
Describing the incident as a major setback to education, Chairman Turay expressed deep sympathy to pupils, parents, and teachers. He assured the community that the Council would work closely with partners and stakeholders to mobilize resources for the school’s immediate rehabilitation.

“This is indeed an unfortunate incident,” Chairman Turay said. “Education remains a top priority for my administration, and we will do everything possible to restore this school so that our children can return to a safe and conducive learning environment.”
He further reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to improving educational infrastructure and ensuring access to quality education throughout Karene District.
The visit was warmly received by school authorities, local leaders, and community members, who commended the Chairman for his prompt response and assurance of support during this challenging time.
