During a supervisory visit to Makeni, Bombali District, on Saturday, October 25, 2025, Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) Chairman, Moses Williams, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing cartographic mapping exercise—an essential step toward the national population and housing census scheduled for December 2026.

Accompanied by the Council’s Media Representative, Sahr James Bangah, Chairman Williams began his tour at the Northern Regional Office on 18 Moses Conteh Street, interacting with the district’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Assistants before visiting key field locations, including Makama, Banana Street, and Sanda Lane, where three of the four active mapping teams in Bombali are operating.

The Chairman was guided by the Principal Statistician for the Northern Region, Amadu Sheriff, and the Bombali District Mapping Coordinator, Khadija Margai. Also present were Bombali District Census Officer Francis Sahr Josiah and Regional Mapping Coordinator Mohamed Bash Koroma.
During the visit, Williams met field mappers and supervisors who briefed him on their achievements and challenges. He commended the teams for their dedication and professionalism, emphasizing that minor obstacles had not slowed the mapping progress.

“Your work is vital to the success of Sierra Leone’s future statistical and development programs. Remain committed to national interest and data accuracy,” Williams encouraged.
Chairman Williams noted that his supervisory tour will continue in Bo City, with a brief stop in Tonkolili District to meet the team working in Mile 91.
