Interpol North East Returns Guinean Victim to Authorities

In a significant demonstration of regional cooperation, Interpol North East Region, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Thomas Patrick Conteh, successfully handed over a Guinean national, Mariama Djiba Diallo, to authorities at the Interpol Border Control Network (BCN) in Pamlap, Guinea. The handover took place on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025, at the Interpol North East office in Mena Hills, Makeni.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Regional Police Commander, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Victor Manfred Williams, highlighting the commitment of Sierra Leone’s law enforcement agencies to cross-border collaboration and the protection of vulnerable individuals.

Mariama Djiba Diallo’s transfer was carried out seamlessly, reflecting the professionalism and efficiency of the Interpol North East team. D/SGT Thomas Patrick Conteh emphasized the importance of such operations in maintaining strong ties with neighboring countries and ensuring that justice is upheld across borders.

“The safety and well-being of victims are our priority,” D/SGT Conteh stated. “Through cooperative efforts with our counterparts in Guinea, we can ensure that individuals in vulnerable situations receive timely and appropriate intervention.”

Officials from Interpol BCN Pamlap Guinea expressed their appreciation for the proactive support provided by the Sierra Leonean team. They commended the North East Interpol unit for its thorough handling of cross-border cases and for facilitating smooth cooperation in complex international matters.

“The professionalism demonstrated by Interpol North East strengthens our shared objective of regional security and justice,” an official from Interpol Guinea noted. “Their commitment ensures that victims are protected and cases are managed efficiently across borders.”

This handover marks a continued effort by Sierra Leone Police to engage with international law enforcement networks, especially in the North East region where cross-border movement with Guinea is frequent. It underscores the strategic importance of collaboration in tackling crimes, protecting victims, and fostering trust among neighboring countries.

The Sierra Leone Police Media Unit in the North East highlighted that such initiatives not only reinforce regional security frameworks but also enhance the country’s reputation as a reliable partner in international policing and victim protection.

By facilitating the transfer of Mariama Djiba Diallo, Interpol North East demonstrates that coordinated law enforcement, clear protocols, and dedicated leadership can produce effective results in cross-border operations. The operation stands as a model for future collaboration, ensuring that victims and legal matters are managed with both diligence and humanity.

As regional cooperation continues to strengthen, such successful handovers signal a growing commitment by West African nations to uphold justice, safeguard vulnerable populations, and combat cross-border crime with efficiency and professionalism.
