By Sahrfoa Matturie

The Rotary Club of Freetown Peninsula held a leadership transition ceremony on Thursday, 2 July 2026, at the Gulf Club in Freetown, marking the formal handover of authority within the organisation.

The event brought together members, partners, and invited guests as outgoing president Phebean Yeama officially handed over to newly installed president, Alfred Alim Navo Esq.

In her farewell remarks, Yeama expressed appreciation to members for their support and cooperation throughout her tenure, noting that the achievements recorded were the result of collective effort and commitment.

She encouraged members to remain faithful to Rotary’s core values of service, integrity, and community development.

“I am sincerely thankful to all members for the support I received during my time as president. I leave with pride in what we have accomplished together and confidence in the future of the club,” she said.

In his acceptance remarks, Navo thanked members for the confidence placed in him, describing his appointment as a call to service. He pledged to strengthen the club’s activities and expand its impact across communities in the Freetown Peninsula.

He also committed to building on existing programmes while introducing new initiatives aimed at enhancing the club’s humanitarian and development work.

The ceremony highlighted unity and continuity within the Rotary Club of Freetown Peninsula, as members reaffirmed their commitment to the principle of “service above self.”

The event concluded with a formal dinner, bringing members and guests together in celebration of the start of a new administrative year.
