Isata Khalilu Mabinty Fornah, a Political Science student in the Faculty of Social Sciences at Ernest Bai Koroma University of Science and Technology (EBKUST), has emerged as the winner of the university’s Inter-Faculty Quran Memorization Competition.
Organised by the EBKUST Muslim Students Association, the competition was held at the Azzolini Auditorium under the theme, “Striving for Jannah.”
The event brought together contestants from various faculties, who demonstrated their knowledge of the Holy Quran through memorisation, accurate pronunciation, and eloquent recitation before an audience of students, lecturers, religious leaders, and invited guests.
Representing the Faculty of Social Sciences, Fornah impressed the panel of judges with her confidence, mastery of Tajweed, and exceptional memorisation skills, earning the highest overall score to claim the championship.
Her victory was warmly received across the university, with students and faculty members congratulating her on an achievement they described as a testament to dedication, discipline, and commitment to Islamic scholarship.
Speaking after the competition, organisers praised all participants for their outstanding performances, noting that the event serves as an important platform for promoting Quranic knowledge, spiritual growth, and unity among Muslim students.
They reaffirmed their commitment to making the competition an annual event aimed at encouraging excellence in Islamic education while strengthening fellowship within the university’s Muslim community.
Fornah’s success also underscores the growing contribution of female Muslim students to both academic and religious excellence at EBKUST, providing inspiration for other young people to pursue educational achievement alongside spiritual development.
