On Monday, 16th March 2026, Africa Global Logistics (AGL) reaffirmed its commitment to community development and humanitarian support by hosting its annual Ramadan donation ceremony at the Freetown Terminal Limited (FTL), bringing together community leaders, beneficiaries, media representatives, and company officials in a show of unity and compassion.
The event, held in observance of the holy month of Ramadan, was designed not only to provide essential food items to surrounding communities but also to reinforce AGL’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives centered on empathy, inclusion, and sustainable community engagement.
Welcoming guests to the ceremony, Abibu Jalloh expressed appreciation to attendees for taking time out of their busy schedules to be part of the occasion, emphasizing the importance of collective participation in community-building efforts.
Delivering a keynote address, Director Cluster WAF, Captain Fabjan Kokan, underscored that AGL’s intervention goes beyond material donations. He stressed that while items such as rice and onions are critical for daily survival, the deeper objective of the initiative is to demonstrate solidarity, humanity, and compassion in challenging global times.
“Humanity must always come first,” he stated, highlighting that AGL’s support is unconditional and driven by a genuine desire to uplift vulnerable populations regardless of background, religion, or nationality. He further noted that while the company may not change the entire world, its actions could inspire others to follow suit.
In his remarks, General Manager Maroun Abi-Aad reiterated that the holy month serves as a reminder of shared values such as love, generosity, and unity. He described the donation as a token of appreciation to the communities hosting AGL’s operations and expressed hope that the gesture would bring relief and comfort to families observing the fast.
Adding to the message, HRM Yvonne Elliot revealed that the donated food and essential supplies were valued at over 500,000 euros. She emphasized that the items were intended to be distributed equitably across beneficiary communities as a demonstration of AGL’s enduring solidarity and commitment to social welfare.
The donation was warmly received by community representatives. Lamin Koroma, Chairperson of the Sea Side Community, disclosed that the items would be distributed across nine mosques, ensuring that a broad segment of the Muslim population benefits. He commended AGL for its sustained contributions, particularly in the area of education, which he described as transformative for the community.
Similarly, Abu Bakarr Barrie, Chairman of the Moah Wharf Community, noted that five mosques had been prioritized for distribution, particularly targeting the elderly and vulnerable. He expressed gratitude for AGL’s consistent support, describing the company as a reliable partner in community development.
Offering a more critical yet constructive perspective, Councillor Abu Bakarr Tejan Jalloh of Ward 420, Constituency 121, acknowledged the significance of the donation but urged AGL to expand its CSR focus. He emphasized the need for long-term infrastructural interventions, including sanitation facilities and access to clean water.
“We deeply appreciate what AGL is doing today,” he remarked. “However, our communities are facing serious challenges in sanitation and basic infrastructure. We need toilet facilities, improved water systems, and sustainable projects that will uplift our people beyond periodic donations. This is how we can truly transform our communities.”
The ceremony concluded with the official handing over of the food items, marking yet another milestone in AGL’s ongoing efforts to support vulnerable communities during Ramadan. The event not only highlighted the company’s philanthropic commitment but also opened important conversations about the need for sustainable development initiatives alongside humanitarian aid.
