Residents of Rokulan and Masheka villages in Sanda Tandaren Chiefdom have received a significant consignment of food supplies from the Hassan Alpha Timbo Foundation as part of a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable communities during the holy month of Ramadan.
The donation exercise, carried out on March 7, 2026, was spearheaded by the foundation’s founder and Chief Executive Officer, Hassan Alpha Timbo, who hails from the area and says the initiative is part of his long-standing commitment to give back to his home community and support those facing economic hardship.
Although Timbo has been providing assistance to people in the chiefdom for several years, the recent intervention marks the first time such support has been officially delivered under the newly established foundation.
The two beneficiary communities Rokulan and Masheka received a variety of essential food items including bags of rice, cooking oil, sugar, salt, tea leaves, tins of milk, mayonnaise, seasoning cubes, mints and other household necessities. The supplies were distributed to households to help ease the financial burden many families experience during the fasting period.
In Masheka village alone, each of the sixteen households, along with the village mosque, received a 50-kilogram bag of rice accompanied by additional food items such as sugar, salt, tea leaves, milk and other groceries intended to support families throughout Ramadan.
Speaking during the distribution, the Director of the foundation, Mohamed Munu, explained that the donation reflects the CEO’s personal commitment to humanitarian service.
According to him, the entire consignment was funded directly by Hassan Alpha Timbo without external sponsorship or financial contributions from other partners.
Munu said the foundation intends to expand its humanitarian outreach in the coming months, particularly within communities in and around Makeni. Planned initiatives include support for people living with disabilities, including residents of polio and amputee camps, as well as assistance for the blind, deaf, and orphaned children.
He also disclosed that the foundation is preparing to support a Quranic recitation competition scheduled to take place during the Ramadan period in Sanda Tandaren Chiefdom.
“We are determined to continue helping vulnerable people in our communities,” Munu said, while calling on philanthropists, business leaders and well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to collaborate with the foundation through partnerships, donations, scholarships and community development projects.
Community members expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that the rising cost of food commodities has made it increasingly difficult for many families to meet their basic needs.
The Chief Imam of the Masheka village mosque, Shek Ibrahim Sanu, welcomed the support and offered prayers for the foundation’s leadership. He said the donated food items would assist struggling Muslims in the community as they observe Ramadan and prepare for special prayers such as Lailatul Qadr.
Youth leader Gibrilla Bangura, along with other community representatives including Madam Jalloh and Umaro Sesay, also expressed appreciation for the unexpected donation, describing it as timely support for many households.
Residents from both Rokulan and Masheka villages gathered during the distribution to sing songs of appreciation and offer prayers for the foundation’s founder and his team, thanking them for remembering their communities during a period when many families are facing economic challenges.
