RSLAF Assures Transparent, Fair Recruitment in Bombali

By Abdul M. Jalloh

The Commanding Officer of the 4th Infantry Battalion, Teko Barracks, Lieutenant Colonel Tamba Senessie, has assured the public of a transparent, easy, and corruption-free recruitment process into the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) for 2026.

Speaking to reporters, Lt. Col. Senessie emphasized that the recruitment process has been designed to be straightforward, free of interference, and fair to all eligible applicants. “We want every Sierra Leonean who meets the requirements to have an equal opportunity to join the Army. The process will be conducted transparently and with integrity,” he said.

The ongoing recruitment aims to train approximately 1,000 new soldiers to strengthen the country’s security and protect Sierra Leone’s territorial integrity. Lt. Col. Senessie reassured applicants that strict measures are in place to prevent favoritism, bribery, or any form of corruption during the selection process.

He also highlighted that the recruitment will follow a structured and phased procedure, including medical checks, physical fitness tests, interviews, and background verification. “We are committed to ensuring that every stage of the recruitment process is monitored and conducted according to regulations. The integrity of the Army is paramount,” he added.

Lt. Col. Senessie further encouraged interested candidates to adhere to the official recruitment guidelines and avoid falling victim to fraudulent offers or intermediaries claiming to guarantee selection. “Applicants should only follow official announcements from the Ministry of Defence and RSLAF. We will not tolerate any attempts to manipulate the process,” he warned.

The Commanding Officer concluded by expressing the Army’s dedication to recruiting disciplined, committed, and capable individuals who will serve the nation with honor. He called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to support youths applying for the program, ensuring they participate in the process legally and ethically. This recruitment exercise is part of the government’s broader effort to strengthen national security and provide opportunities for young Sierra Leoneans to serve their country while developing skills, discipline, and leadership abilities through military training
