In a major boost for youth development and sports in Sierra Leone, Sheikh Alhaji Mohamed Omodu Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban, has personally handed Le 305 million in cash to the University of Makeni (UniMak) for the construction of a multi-purpose sports complex.

The pledge was first made during the 2025 Student Representative Council (SRC) Dinner and Awards Ceremony, where Jagaban promised to support the development of a modern facility to promote sports, recreation, and skill development. The funds were formally delivered on Saturday, 24th January 2026, by a delegation led by Senior Comrade Ramie B. Saad, Global Coordinator of the Jagaban Movement.

Receiving the donation, Mr. Mohamed Wahab Kamara, Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, praised Jagaban for his generosity, describing the contribution as a transformative investment in student development and sportsmanship. He commended the delegation for ensuring the full pledge was delivered in cash.

SRC President Abdulai Barrie and SRC President-Elect Momodu Munu expressed excitement over the project, assuring that the funds will be used exclusively for the construction of the facility with full transparency and accountability.

Senior Lecturer and Legal Practitioner Mr. Paul Kamara emphasized proper management of the funds, noting that every Leone of the donation will directly benefit the project.

The multi-purpose sports complex will host football, basketball, athletics, and other recreational activities, providing students with opportunities to develop academically and physically. The project is expected to significantly enhance student engagement, skill-building, and overall sports development at UniMak.

Jagaban’s contribution underscores his dedication to youth empowerment, education, and sports, reinforcing his commitment to translating promises into tangible support for Sierra Leone’s next generation.
