Senior police officials and district authorities in Bombali District have visited the family of Anthony S. Kargbo, a fuel attendant tragically shot dead in Worreh Village on January 12, 2026, to offer condolences and reassure the community that justice will be pursued. The visit aimed to calm rising tensions following the incident and to demonstrate law enforcement’s commitment to the family and the wider community.
Assistant Inspector General of Police, Victor Manfred Williams, expressed solidarity with the grieving family, emphasizing the police’s dedication to a thorough and impartial investigation. “We understand the pain the family is going through, and as law enforcement officers, we feel it too,” Williams said during the visit. He further assured the family that all necessary resources would be mobilized to identify and apprehend those responsible for the fatal attack.
Bombali District Council Chairman, M.B. Sisay, also spoke to the family and community members, urging them to remain patient and law-abiding while the investigation continues. He reiterated that the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have assumed full responsibility for the case and are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice. “The authorities are fully aware of the concerns in Worreh Village, and we call on everyone to cooperate with law enforcement,” Sisay said.
The killing of Kargbo has sparked widespread concern among residents, many of whom have expressed fear for personal safety and urged the government to improve security in the area. Community members highlighted that incidents of violent crime in the region, while infrequent, create significant anxiety and disrupt local livelihoods.

The delegation that visited Worreh Village included senior officers from various police divisions in the northeast, signaling the seriousness with which the matter is being treated.
