Africell, in collaboration with its mobile money subsidiary Afrimoney, has joined forces with the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, to advance digital learning and connectivity among students.
The partnership, unveiled in Freetown, represents a forward-looking move to integrate digital technology into higher education and improve access to online academic resources. The initiative forms part of IPAM’s 45th Anniversary celebrations, which center on rebranding, transformation, and the strategic repositioning of the institution for the digital age.
Speaking at the ceremony, Africell’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Malek El Koussa, highlighted that the collaboration goes beyond corporate social responsibility. “This partnership is about investing in the minds of young Sierra Leoneans and giving them the digital access needed to compete in today’s global economy,” he said.
Through this agreement, Africell will provide high-speed internet connectivity on IPAM’s campus and introduce affordable data bundles tailored for students. Afrimoney will further support the digital ecosystem by facilitating seamless financial transactions, enabling students to pay fees, access learning resources, and communicate efficiently through mobile platforms.
University representatives welcomed the initiative, describing it as a vital boost to their modernization agenda and a key driver of academic excellence. They emphasized that the partnership reinforces IPAM’s commitment to producing tech-savvy graduates equipped for leadership in an increasingly digital economy.
The collaboration underscores Africell’s growing influence as a partner in national development, using technology to empower education and bridge Sierra Leone’s digital divide.
