“Sad days are always remembered thrice than that of joyful days”, says William Shakespeare. Similarly, the September 9th joint raids carried out in the two villages around Mile 91 had left sadness in the hearts and minds of the local residents, especially the family of the late 29 year Abdul Kamara, an ‘OKADA RIDER’ who left his father a pregnant wife, a two and half-year old boy.
According to Hawanatu Sankoh, she has been enjoying her matrimonial home with her husband despite living in the village and situations that has to do with putting food on the table for the family on a daily basis was achieved through the loving and caring husband.
These memorable moments have now become history, with the family in Masemgbeh village.
“I am finding it very difficult to get a meal for the day, taking care of my son, and footing medical bills for my nine month pregnancy health care. My father-in-law is trying, but situation is very rough with him especially when my late husband was providing most of the supports for all the family domestic affairs’, the wife lamented.
Abdul Orkombay Kamara, the father of the late man, expressed dissatisfaction over the police raid, which he considered as a deliberate act in occasioning violence on the peaceful people of both Mathibo and Masemgbeh villages.
The violence had left the death of his first born child (Abdul Kamara) through gunshot from the raiders.
“Nothing, I mean nothing has absolutely come out of the investigation since the incident occurred on September 9, 2018 and today is Thursday 4th October 2018’, he said.
He added that he is of the conviction that, ‘there is no justice for the poor in this of our beloved country’, but called on the investigation team to expedite the process and identify the culprit.
‘I am now left with added burden to take care of my family and that of the son and the pregnant wife of my late son’, the bereaved father lamented.
Civil Societies and Human Rights Organizations issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Sierra Leone Police, to tender their investigation report for the killing of the young man that has left cries and sorrow to friends and family members in that part of the country, which has expired almost a week now.
“Killing in itself is bad and nobody should take upon himself or herself with or without orders to take a life”, the Holy Books referenced.
